The collection of poems All Fall Down was originally published by Seismograph Publications in 1987 in San Francisco, California.

The collection of poems The Book of Awakenings is a work in progress. Part I was written in San Francisco.  Parts II and III were written in Puerto Vallarta, and are in chronological order.

Michael Mayo was born in Syracuse, New York.  Studies in biology, history and political science at the University of Maine at Orono, Univ. of New Brunswick, Canada and the Univ. of Delaware.  Has worked as a laborer, agricultural assistant, paralegal, foreman, lab technician, clerk, proof-reader, security guard and on the assembly line.  Travelled by rail and hitch-hiked extensively in Europe.  Active in ecological, anti-apartheid, peace and gay movements.  Won a 1987 American Book Award for editing Practising Angels: A Contemporary Anthology of San Francisco Bay Area Poetry.   Has been living a charmed life in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico since early 1993 after residing for ten years in San Francisco.
